NATO DIANA 2027 · Multidomain Autonomy of Uncrewed Systems

Capabilities for the contested fight

PERSEUS was built against the demands of degraded, contested, multidomain operations. Below is how its implemented capabilities map directly to the NATO DIANA 2027 Multidomain Autonomy challenge, requirement by requirement.

Resilient autonomy

A contested-autonomy doctrine package plus degraded-state runtime that keeps reasoning when the operating picture deteriorates.

GNSS-denied reasoning

Navigation-trust state is a first-class input. Explicit spoofing-suspicion shapes how cautious the advice becomes.

Comms-degraded behaviour

A four-value comms-loss policy governs bounded behaviour when the link is intermittent or lost, by doctrine, not improvisation.

DIANA challenge fit

Capability mapped to requirement.

Each row is a DIANA multidomain-autonomy topic and the implemented PERSEUS contribution that addresses it.

DIANA topic
PERSEUS contribution
Resilient autonomy
Contested-autonomy doctrine package + degraded-state runtime.
GNSS-degraded / denied
Navigation-trust state ingest with doctrine consumption.
GNSS spoofing
Explicit spoofing-suspected signal driving advisory caution.
Comms intermittent / lost
Comms-degraded state with a four-value loss policy.
Cooperative sensing
Peer observation ingest with Brain advisory scoring.
Local truth wins on conflict
Eyes’ local truth overrides conflicting cooperative observations.
Contribution to wider COP
COP contribution with a content-derived evidence hash.
Decentralised mission management
Mission-coordination advisory across cooperating platforms.
Explainable + replayable decisions
Brain decision trace plus per-cycle audit log.
Operator-supervised autonomy
Levels of interoperability 0–4 only; PERSEUS never emits LOI 5.
Low-SWaP autonomy
Sub-4 ms Brain decision p99 on aarch64 edge compute.
Audit / evidence archive
Timestamped DIANA evidence-package generator with SHA-256 manifest.
Host-platform integration boundary
Host-platform emulator + host-execution-feedback contract.
Doctrine in action

Mission profiles.

PERSEUS encodes doctrine as structured, testable packages. Today’s library spans the profiles below, and the pilot phase expands it to further NATO mission sets.

Profile

CASEVAC corridor

Casualty-evacuation routing and phase-transition reasoning, validated through a dedicated regression workflow and degraded-state checks.

Profile

Reconnaissance

Exposure-aware and blind-sector-aware movement advice that weighs observation value against detectability.

Profile

Contested autonomy

Degraded GNSS / comms / spoofing-suspicion reasoning mapped to the DIANA contested-port and logistics-node scenarios.

Honest scope

What PERSEUS does, and does not, claim.

Precision about scope is a feature, not a hedge. Reviewers can trust the claims because we are explicit about the boundaries.

  • Proven today: mature implemented core, contract- and runtime-level DIANA demos, cross-validated JAUS conformance, replay determinism.
  • Pilot phase: live host-UGV integration, field validation under degraded GNSS/comms, formal conformance and certification.

PERSEUS is not:

  • a proprietary sensor kit
  • a complete self-driving vehicle stack
  • a low-level motor / actuator controller
  • a weapons, effector or fire-control system
  • a swarm command authority, it is a peer, not a controller
  • NATO-certified, it is standards-aligned
Path to the field

From proof of concept to host UGV.

The integration roadmap is a documented, staged plan, exactly what the DIANA accelerator and pilot funding are asked to support.

Now · Proof of concept

Implemented core, validated on the bench

Eyes + Brain runtime, DIANA contract / runtime / host-emulator demos passing, evidence packs regenerating byte-for-byte.

Pilot · Integration

Onto a representative host UGV

Integration via the documented adapter boundary, then execution of the staged live test plan on a real platform.

Pilot · Validation

Field validation under degraded conditions

Live trials under degraded GNSS/comms, multi-platform cooperative-observation testing on a real peer network.

Pilot · Assurance

Doctrine expansion & formal conformance

Additional NATO mission profiles and formal standards conformance through an external assessment process.
